Amigurumi Crochet Tutorial

Amigurumi is a Japanese terminology which means knitted or crocheted doll. It might have been difficult for you to do amigurumi crochet, if you were trying to learn a decade before. Why? Because only a few of us can read and write Japanese. But thanks to a gift called technology. Now with the help of internet you can read and learn about anything, any craft that is present on any part of the world.

Amigurumi is the most versatile crochet style of all as you can make the most adorable patterns of dolls, animals, figures and stuffed toys with this. Imagine making teddy bears, penguins, pretty dolls and more with this. Various sizes, diverse shapes, assorted colors…its all what amigurumi is. I learnt to make a small bunny from a website.

Here I will share the pattern and the procedure with you.

REQUIREMENTS:

Crochet hook, yarn in Camel brown and Black colors, polyester stuffing and tapestry needle and thread.

METHOD:

HEAD:
Chain 2, 4 single crochets in 2nd chain from hook. Join to first single crochet.

Chain 1, 2 single crochets in each single crochet (8 single crochet).

Join.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in next single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet*. Repeat around, Join.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in each of next 2 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet* around. Join.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in each of next 3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet* around. Join.

Chain 1, do three rounds of even single crochet.

Chain 1, * 1 single crochet in each of next 3 single crochet, decrease over next 2 single crochet* around. Join.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in each of next 2 single crochet, decrease over next 2* around. Join.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in next single crochet, decrease over next 2* around. Join. Repeat.

Stuff, continue decreasing until hole is shut. Fasten off.

BODY:
Begin as for head. When you get to *single crochet in next 3 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next*, do that row twice.

Chain 1, *1 single crochet in each of next 4 single crochet, 2 single crochet in next single crochet* around. Join.

Now do 5 rounds of even single crochet.

Chain 1, * single crochet in next 4 single crochet, decrease over next 2 single crochet* around. Join.

Continue as for head, subtracting one single crochet between decreases until it's time to stuff; then continue decreasing until the hole is shut. End off.

EARS (make 2):
Chain 2, 4 single crochets in 2nd chain from hook. Join. 2 single crochet in each single crochet.

Now do 6 rows of even single crochet. Stuff, fasten off (do not decrease).

ARMS (make 2): Begin with body color.
Chain 2, 4 single crochets in 2nd chain from hook. Join. 2 single crochet in each single crochet.

Join. Now do 4 rows of even single crochet. Fasten off, join fur color in any single crochet.
Do one row even single crochet, stuff, then do solid decreases around until shut.

FEET AND TAIL (make 3):
Chain 2, 4 single crochets in 2nd chain from hook. 2 single crochet in each single crochet.

*1 single crochet in next single crochet, decrease over next 2* around. Stuff. *solid decrease* around. End off.
